For instance, it makes sense to look for a backing that is guaranteed against “zippering.” Zippering can happen when the carpet fiber is not woven into the latex backing. In a loop construction, if a thread gets pulled and isn’t woven into the backing, it can unravel to the end of the carpet, leaving what looks like a zipper line.

Neanche questo e' il massimo perche' per quanto ne so questi termini vengono entrambi usati per i tessuti fatti a maglia, piuttosto che per quelli appunto... tessuti, come i tappeti non annodati, ma con pelo a "ricciolini" (loops in inglese, ma in italiano?!) Sarebbe forse utile sapere cosa viene dopo "will not zipper or...". Penso ai comuni asciugamani da bagno e a come, se si tira per sbaglio uno dei "ricciolini" un lungo filo si libera dalla trama e dall'ordito, lasciandosi dietro, appunto, una lunga "cicatrice" che assomiglia ad una cerniera lampo (zip)...
