Sono d'accordo con la risposta di Alessandro, anche se mi sembra poco corretto in inglese parlare di un vuoto di 29.90"Hg.
Se la pressione atmosferica al livello del mare è 14.696 psia ovvero 29.92 in Hg (pollici di mercurio), un vuoto di 0.02 in Hg equivale a 0,508 mm Hg ovvero 508 micrometri di Hg di vuoto.
Un vuoto di 29,90 in Hg è quasi un vuoto assoluto; bisognava dire che si deve effettuare un vuoto portando la pressione assoluta a 29.90 in Hg, per cui essendo 0 la pressione relativa a livello del mare (quella che si legge su un manometro) il vuoto si ottiene scendendo al di sotto di tale pressione; quindi è richiesto un minimo di vuoto ovvero mezzo millimetro (0.5)di colonna di mercurio ovvero 6,906309816 mm di colonna d'acqua (a 4°C)
