Ci sono parecchie uscite di steel come profilato, ne segue che angle dovrebbe essere angolare e channel - di più difficile resa - si trova sia come profilo, sia come profilo a U (ma allora la traduzione più corretta sarebbe U-channel), sia come canalino.

Se non si tratta di un solo pezzo di questi materiali, queste parole di solito si utilizzano al plurale. La parola "acciaio" nel mio suggerimento si riferisce a tutte e due le parole, ma quando si parla del profilato ad U non viene indicato il materiale (acciaio) perchè profilato ad U è sempre in acciaio.

E vero, il profilato ad U in plastica, per esempio, si utilizza per fare le finestre, in questo caso invece dell'acciaio è possibile utilizzare solo il ferro, infatti, si dice anche "ferro ad U", ma nessun altro materiale in questo caso perchè questo profilato ad U sarà di spessore e di peso considerevole, perciò non vanno bene ne alliminio, ne ottone.
