Letteralmente il termine significa "doppia camma", vale a dire che la distribuzione di cui si parla e' con doppio albero a camme. Si tratta di un termine generalmente impiegato per designare in maniera sintetica i motori che presentano appunto distribuzione bialbero (vedi) a camme in testa.
