Italian translation: it might mean many things....

Medical - Medical: Instruments
English term or phrase: attachment
I'm proofreading a text and am not familiar with the following translation of "attachment":

Slide the irrigation clip over the distal end of the handpiece attachment.
Infilare la clip di irrigazione sull’estremità distale del terminale del manipolo.

I do not need to suggest improvements or changes to the text, I only need to note if there is an objective error. Could anyone confirm that terminale is (or is not) used to mean "attachment"? Many thanks in advance.

Italian translation:it might mean many things....
Explanation:
I think you're right.
By attachment I understand only that the piece was attached separately at some point after the irrigtion console was copmleted. It may be an optional. On the basis of the context and possibly a photograph you may be able to decide.

there is a drawing here:

It shows a handpiece at one end, with an irrigation collar attached to one extreme. You can decide how you want to translate it.
