English to Italian translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general)
English term or phrase: kernels
sto traducendo uno studio sull'insufficienza respiratoria; nella descrizione della TAC trovo questa frase:
"Slices of 1 mm every 30 mm were performed on inspiration with lung and soft kernels, and read on lung and mediastinal windows respectively."
Qualcuno può aiutarmi con "soft kernels"? non riesco a trovare niente che mi aiuti.... Grazie

Italian translation:kernels (algoritmi) a bassa risoluzione
Explanation:
Sto estrapolando da qui:

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/501811

"Tissue-specific algorithms can be used after the data are acquired. A high-resolution kernel will increase the noise and edge enhancement artifact. These are used for viewing tissues that have intrinsically high contrast, such as bone and lung.
A soft kernel will result in less noisy images and is used for viewing soft issues, which do not have intrinsically high contrast."

Però ho anche il dubbio che, per traslato, potrebbe intendersi "tessuti molli", e questo puoi verificarlo solo tu.

A proposito dei (Volterra) kernels puoi vedere anche qui:

e su Wikipedia.

Auguri...
