disagree  xxxartemisia: Sebbene simile all'espressione "how are you?", "how do you do" è un equivalente di "nice to meet you". Una collega britannica ha passato mezz'ora a spiegarlo ad un gruppo di studenti italiani :-)

agree  Giuliana Buscaglione: non credo mi sia mai capitato sentir anteporre "hello" a how do you do nel senso di "piacere!" formale. Comunque, nell'informale si dice anche "come va" al posto di piacere... domanda retorica a cui chi la pone non interessa affatto la risposta :-)
