I hope the project is of a historical-documentary nature: in that case
the salutation for Mussolini would be "Viva il Duce!" Hail God = Viva Dio does not ring either historically or linguistically accurate, and I don't mean the translation, which is indeed accurate. Vivaddio, is an exclamation used in conversation as a reinforcement of what one is saying. Hence, if your friend's project is of a historical nature, I would chose something else, Viva il Duce, for example. And would leave Viva Dio out.
