Si riprende qui il tema di Sara come moglie e al contempo sorella di Abramo (figlia dello stesso padre ma di madre diversa). Sara afferma di essere sorella di Abramo affinché questi non venga ucciso in terra straniera.

Il senso è abbastanza chiaro. L'autore vuole far derivare il gesto di Sara da una cultura ormai passata, che nulla ha a che vedere con il suo presente di narratore. Lo so che complicazione non è complessità, che la complessità va facilitata e la complicazione tutt'al più semplificata: ma un vincolo secondo me è complesso, non complicato.
