The 2004 competition was open for the first time to students and designers from all over the world, and the winners' list gives an indication of the large number of countries that took part in the competition. Also the design focus was even more oriented to new technologies, and in particu ar to LED designs, the light source of tomorrow. The selected models finalists and winners are of very high and innovative design and confirm once more that the European Design Competition "Lights of the Future" concept is succeeding in attracting top designers.
