English to Italian translations [PRO]
Philosophy / psicoanalisi/teorie delle relazioni oggettuali
English term or phrase: qua object
The two factors seem inconsistent with each other for the following reason:
On the one hand, because the traumatic experience cannot be fully
assimilated, the object is internalized as a bad object; on the other hand,
because the child takes the badness of the object into himself or herself,
the child is able to maintain a representation of the object as good. This
formulation suggests that the object is both bad (and therefore not fully
assimilated and internalized *qua object*) and good (and therefore, presumably,
fully assimilable).
