Un modo per tradurre la prima frase, che sottintende "Solo questo ci mancava", "Proprio di questo avevamo bisogno", che giustifica il "dio salvi la povera Inghilterra!"

Explanation:
Ciao Maria. "The chalk and duster brigade" si riferisce ai prof che usano metodi d'insegnamento tradizionali/antiquati (gesso, lavagna e cancellino), anziché metodi più moderni. Oppure, il conducente è anzianotto, e per lui tutti i prof fanno parte della "squadra del gesso e cancellino". E' un po' tarduccio... sono fusa e non mi viene l'equivalente in italiano.
"Gawd" = Dio (God), quindi "Dio aiuti/salvi la povera Inghilterra!"
