It is just part of the normal discourse, almost totally redundant here, like "Yes, I am" which correctly translated into Italian is normally just "Sì". It is just verbal punctuation. Speech is often peppered with it. Both among Jamaicans and in the Geordie semi-dialect which I know well (my parents). In other contexts it is an alternative second person singular pronoun (in Jamaican, and modern hippy slang, not Geordie).

Having known and worked with many Jamaicans, great people, "mon" is just a spelling which reflects their pronunciation of "man".

I can only imagine that she is Jamaican or from another English speaking island of the Caribbean and that the "o" reflectst that pronunciation of "man". This usage of "man" is found in Scottish and Northern regions of the UK, in the US (especially hippy speak) and in the West Indies. The expression "hey man", is the same as "hey you". Here you wouldn't really translate it. It is like an emphatic second person singular pronoun.
