Per effetto del continuo movimento prodotto dai rulli macinatori e inchiostratori, l’inchiostro tende ad assorbire l’acqua di bagnatura e a formare una emulsione di acqua in olio, cioè, le piccole goccioline di acqua si disperdono nell’inchiostro.
Questo fenomeno diminuisce il tiro dell’inchiostro e ne aumenta la viscosità; come conseguenza, il flusso dell’inchiostro verso la lastra diminuisce e viene a modificarsi l’equilibrio iniziale acqua-inchiostro.
