cmq mi sono letta un bel po' del pregevolissimo libro e 'purchase' è utilizzato come sinonimo di 'buy'

vedi ad esempio

il problema è localizzarlo!

comprare le benedizioni è un po' bruttarella come espressione, però secondo me (nel suo contesto) vuole dire esattamente questo, in questa maniera che può suonare "volgare" ma che, essenzialmente, vuole semplicemente essere crudamente diretta per meglio far pesare il sacrificio di Cristo.

Comunque, poiché nel testo viene ripetuto 'buy/bought' parecchie volte, e quindi il concetto dell'acquisto è ben chiarito

penso che potresti tranquillamente usare per 'purchase' il più delicato 'ottenere' senza paura di travisare troppo il significato originale.
(E sarebbe meglio non farlo perché tutta la polemica intorno all'uso della croce da parte dei Cristiani Cattolici, connessa al testo, è abbastanza complicata da rendere fedelmente, IMHO :)
