English term or phrase: graft
Ciao a tutti,

Sto tentando di tradurre una poesia di Shane Book, una poetesa Afro-americana. L'impresa è ardua perchè è scritta quasi tutta in slang. Ma ci si prova...

Una delle frasi a cui non riesco ad arrivare è questa:

"more ice that you can graft to the fender of my gold Escalade."

("To all he would quietly declaim, Now hear this, it’s the mad bling in my pocket, jingling, now hear me dismiss this classic witness defense quick as a weekend trip to Vegas, city of red-roofed portopotties, bean-shake slushies and more ice that you can graft to the fender of my gold Escalade.")

Dove "graft" vuol dire "innesto", cosa c'entra col ghiaccio e la macchina? Sicuramente è un modo di dire...

Qualcuno saprebbe decifrarlo?

Explanation:
bel compito! i agree 'ice' is slang here. Especially seeing the early remark of 'bling!'. Thinking of graft in the medical sense of 'trapianto' and extending this image to adding to/modifying one's car, could make sense. Also, modificare is used as a primary term to describe enhanced automobiles. Basta scrivere 'Macchine modificate' su google per vedere tutto!

Explanation:
A mio parere per ice si intende proprio il ghiaccio e non è slang.

"To graft" alla lettera è "inserire", "innestare".

... Las Vegas la città dei bagni chimici (portpotties) dal tetto rosso, degli slushy (una sorta di bevanda simile alla nostra granatina) al frappè di fagioli (o qualcosa di simile) e molto più ghiaccio di quello che si potrebbe inserire/mettere/incastrare nel parafango della mia Gold Cadillac Escalade.
I parafanghi della Cadillac Escalade sono molto grandi ...

Essendo Las Vegas una città costruita in mezzo al deserto, c'è un alto consumo di ghiaccio.


Il clima di Las Vegas non può che risentire dell'ambiente desertico in cui la città è costruita, con precipitazioni scarse ed alte temperature estive. Massime intorno ai 40° C sono comuni nel periodo da maggio a settembre. In certi giorni si toccano anche i 46° C. 47° C
