Hook Potential - E' la valutazione del gancio potenziale complessivo della boccia da bowling spesso indicato con due valori: il primo ( Dull ) per la boccia resa opaca ed il secondo ( Shiny ) per la boccia resa lucida. La scala di riferimento non è assoluta ma differisce per le singole case produttrici.

Backend - E' la valutazione del potenziale d'aggancio di una boccia da bowling nell'area di pista prossima alla pin deck, in altre parole negli ultimi 20 piedi. Anche in questo caso la scala di riferimento varia per le singole case costruttrici.


Backend
Backend is an area of the lane closest to the pins (last 15 feet). It is the area of the lane that is not oiled. Oil moves to the Backend due to bowling activity. When this happens, it is referred to as "no backends" or "carrydown". Lanes in which the a ball hooks a lot in the last 20 feet are referred to as "strong backend".

Hook Potential
Degree to which the properties designed into a bowling ball and in its potential to traverse towards during its path down the lane.

*potenziale di aggancio nell'area in prossimità dei birilli*
forse si può lasciare "backend" in inglese
non so...
