grazie infinite a tutti :) l'ultimo link fornito da Tanuki ha spiegato ottimamente il mio dubbio. Purtroppo non posso inserire note nel testo, ma risolverò con "stazione di servizio" e spieghero' al cliente di che si tratta.. poi si arrangia :)

T.: Maybe the "P" is for public. It sounds like they're talking about a fire extinguisher located for public use. Maybe P for Public and IX for extinguisher?
It may be a trade-specific acronym, or maybe just an internal departmental slang one.

agree  Tanuki (X): Domanda non facile. Una stazione di servizio dovrebbe prevedere mezzi di prevenzione incendi/evacuazione. Forse lamentano la scarsa raggiungibilità del luogo da parte di mezzi di soccorso.

Explanation:
Premetto che brancolo nel buio. Ho cercato di capire, facendo ricerche anche strampalate, ma niente. Adesso mi chiedo: siamo sicuri che si tratti di estintori o manicotti o cose simili? Scusate, non voglio sembrare arrogante, però ho letto il verbale del consiglio a cui si riferisce la traduzione (facilmente reperibile in rete) e non mi è sembrato che ci fossero riferimenti precisi al "fuoco". Certo non ho letto il tutto con grande cura ed è molto probabile che mi sbagli.
La mia ipotesi (fantasiosa): e se si trattase di una macchinetta automatica per foto (pix, appunto)? Un affare posto al centro del corner che impedisce il corretto fluire dei passanti? Non me ne vogliate, ma non può essere possibile?
Spero di non aver detto una sciocchezza troppo grossa.

agree  Tanuki (X): L'istinto è importante :-) e l'intuizione è giusta. La station non riguarda direttamente il fire-fighting, ma quest'ultimo dovrà poter accedere alla station, IMHO.
