English term or phrase: can be altered in 0.05 mm steps The position of the groove can be altered in 0.05 mm steps (incrementi ??)
 Local time: 07:22
Italian translation:Dear Nicky - Explanation:I'm not sure how you can move a groove. I can understand the lens moving in the groove, so I stick by my original "generic" offer - la posizione del canalino potrà essere regolato 0,05mm per volta. I asked my engineer colleagues about incrementi and they mumbled about CNC and increments being increases and here it's just general movement, but Laura indicates something regarding a mathematical rule I'm not familiar with, so ....take you pick Also scatti would infer a "click" into a notch of some sort - a non smooth movement. Again without context. Angela

Thanks a lot for your help. I think Laura was also right but to 'tagliare la testa al toro' I opted for 'intervalli'. Sometimes you need to be bold when the text is so vague and unclear. Ciao, Nicky4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer

incrementi da 0,05 mm

Explanation:
Ecco uno dei tanti esempi:

Bisellatura: Facilita inserimento dei contatti dorati. Incrementi da 0,1 mm. Recupero dell'oro.
Pulitura bordi: Evita danneggiamento dei film o photoresist. Impilaggio ottimale dei pacchi. Nessuna dispersione di particelle durante le lavorazioni

la posizione della scanalatura si potrà regolare di 0,05mm per volta

Explanation:
Normally we use "incremento" to indicate an increase (incrementare = to augment, to increase).
As this does not appear to be the case I suggest using a different formula.
As these is no context I used "scanalatura" for "groove".

una nota

Explanation:
Qui si fa riferimento all'accezione matematica del termine "incremento":
differenza fra un valore generico e un valore fissato di una quantità variabile

Explanation:
and I have interpreted something else.
What kind of groove is it and how is the position being moved?

Canalino

Explanation:
Grrove è il canalino della montatura dove viene posizionata la lente. Io avevo pensato ad 'incrementi - 'scatti', ma mi chiedevo se potevo renderlo in modo diverso.
Grazie
