Credo che questo sia già uscito nei kudoz passati per cui lo potresti cercare anche nel glossario, comunque di regola il mio capo, cioè "direttore amministrativo" lo traduco con "managing director" verso l'inglese UK.

Explanation:
As Franci seems very sure when saying "si dice così", I would like to point out that my dictionary gives both "direttore amministrativo" and "amminstratore delegato", quindi si dice anche così!
Just as in English we say "managing director" or "CEO" (originally more US English), just as Peter pointed out.
Perhaps I would see in "delegato" someone who has been elected/delegated by the Board to run the comapny on their behalf.

Explanation:
In Canada we use CEO to mean Amministratore Delegato, and Managing Director could be direttore generale, direttore esecutivo and other different things, but not a CEO.

just my two cents.

Forse sarebbe anche utile sapere la provenienza linguistica del testo.
