Lo Storyboard è una rappresentazione, attraverso una serie di disegni della storia che vogliamo raccontare con il nostro prodotto audiovisivo: potremmo definirlo come un "riassunto per immagini".
Nello Storyboard appaiono i disegni più importanti e rappresentativi. Le sequenze vengono numerate e commentate da un breve testo con le indicazioni di regia utili per guidare l'animazione.
Lo Storyboard è uno strumento molto importante, perchè consente, meglio di una sceneggiatura scritta, di tracciare le linee principali dal racconto filmico. E' molto difficile e complicato, infatti, descrivere un'immagine a parole, mentre anche un semplice schizzo ci permette di raggiungere lo scopo di proporre un'immagine in maniera "efficace".
