Benché abbia trovato moltissimi siti di tipo "miliatare" che lasciano invariata l'espressione, il sito "ludico" (non "lude"!) indicato sotto dà questa traduzione che mi sembra esprima le caratteristiche della modalità.

Speriamo davvero di non doverci occupare della materia (io documenti di natura militare non ne traduco più, perché quando lo facevo non dormivo bene!). Magari può servire per qualche gioco informatico (ma anche quelli ormai mi disturbano i sogni!).

Benché abbia trovato moltissimi siti di tipo "miliatare" che lasciano invariata l'espressione, il sito "ludico" (non "lude"!) indicato sotto dà questa traduzione che mi sembra esprima le caratteristiche della modalità.

Speriamo davvero di non doverci occupare della materia (io documenti di natura militare non ne traduco più, perché quando lo facevo non dormivo bene!). Magari può servire per qualche gioco informatico (ma anche quelli ormai mi disturbano i sogni!).

"Nap" in this sense means " a villous, hairy, or downy surface found on some woven fabrics, esp. those made from wool ... such a surface raised on certain fabrics by teasling, brushing, etc. ..." -Webster's 2d.

The "nap of the earth" would be, for example, the treetops; you can see how the phrase would refer to very low flight.
