What are your company's transaction (material) margins in 2004 for each of the following server products?

売買(実質)マージン

Explanation:
売買マージンで、しかもバックマージンや期間限定の報奨金を除いた実質的な利幅(販売価格-仕入価格)を知りたいのではないでしょうか。materialには「実質的な」という意味もあり、「実質マージン」という用語もありますので。ちなみに、小売業者、販売業者の場合、バックマージンや販売報奨金を加えると利幅が増えるため、販売意欲が高まると同時に安売りがしやすくなり、結果として拡販につながります。バックマージンや報奨金を含める場合はgross margin=粗利益となるでしょう。ほかに、「名目マージン」という言葉もありますが、これは(名目販売価格-名目仕入価格)を言うのではないでしょうか、いずれも確証はありません。なお、trade marginも訳語は「売買マージン」です。念のため。

Joe Lさん、下記の文例ではいかがでしょうか。最初の例では、製造業の場合の実質マージンが定義されています。材料費のみを除くのでないことは明らかです。販売業の場合でリベートや報奨金を除くものを言う例は見つかりませんでしたが、筆者がmaterialで言おうとした意図は汲めると思います。2番目のNortelの記事も、内容を読むと見出しのmaterial marginが実質的なマージンを意味すると思いますが、いかがでしょうか。

I do belive they are refering to "profit margin"．営業に関してはよく外来語を利用され、例えば、any brokerage fee is refered to as a "中間マージン"...よろしいでしょうか。\(＾０＾)/
