"She is discussing a global sales opportunity that one of her product managers, Greg, recently bid on a project to install a large refrigeration system in a major hotel." As I checked a meaning of "bid on", there are several meanings as ~に値を付ける、~に入札をする[行う]、応札する、競売で競り落とす. For this sentence, what is the best?

がこの場合、一番よく使われるような気がします。文章を読んだ限りでは、入札をして、あとは誰がその契約(仕事)を競り落とせるか、という感じを受けます。少なくとも、競り落とすではないはずです。なぜなら、文脈を見る限り、その仕事が他の人に取られたわけでもないし、自分が勝ち取った(競り落とした)ことが一切書かれていないからです。
