English to Japanese translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting | | English term or phrase: formativ colored equivalent | | Cezanne expressed the following to Emile Bernar:"All nature forms can be reduced to spheres, cones and cylinders. One must begin with these simple basic elements, and then one will be able to make everythin that one wants. One must not reprodce nature, but represent it; but by what means? By means of formative coloured equivalents." |

| | Japanese translation:造形的同等な色彩 | Explanation: The colors used are "equivalent" to the forms being depicted.
So, this is a way of by Cezanne to paint whereby he uses colors to express forms and shapes - these colors "correspond" to the forms being painted.

Here are some words on this technique of that he used (where he modulated forms with color):
http://www.fineartmirrors.com/notes.htm
Cezanne began putting next to them unconnected dabs of color, a red where an apple would be, a green, complimenting the red, next to a contour that would become a vase. He was here not only modulating the forms with color so that the volumes gradually emerged from the shadowed contours, but also building a color composition.

7 mins confidence: 造形的に色が同等のもの
Explanation: 上記の文を読むと、自然の形は球状、円錐形および円柱または円筒形で表現でき、これらの単純であるが基本的な要素から始めることによって、初めて自分の思い通りのものが作れる。自然を再製(つまりレプリカを作る)してはならず、それを表さなくてはならないが、どのような方法か?それは造形的に色が同等のもの、という意味になります。

11 hrs confidence:

Asker: Akikoさん、ご提案ありがとうございます。なるほど。自然をそのまま模写するのではなく、自然にあるものと同等の、あるいは等価のものを色と形で表現する、ということですね。なんとなく分かってきました。
