English term or phrase: elbow width in front/rear
Hi!

When translating a car characteristic description, I came across difficulties with finding a Japanese term corresponding with "elbow width" inside dimension of car. I found only general "inside width" without difference between front and rear seats. Do anyone have any idea how to deal with that?

Thank you.

I'm not an expert in the automobile but I think "elbow width" is the width of the interior of a car.

車の前と後部座席のゆとり幅

Explanation:
I have not heard of the term `elbow width`.
I suspect the author means `elbow room`: which refers to a concept of space: 余地・余裕・ゆとり・空間。
The sense `room` in the compound noun `elbow *room* conveys the sense of `room to move`(=not tight).
Concise Oxford 11 ed p 459: elbow room n. informal. Adequate space to move or work in.
BTW: To me, the nuance conveyed by `elbow room` refers to general /upper body space to move. For the lower body `leg room` (足元の広さ) is common I think.
Hope this helps.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Maybe I should have mention that this "elbow width" the autor talks about is 1380/1384mm in front/rear space of the car so it would be clear that it means width of whole space, not only one seat. Sorry, my bad. However, I could not find any use of literal translation "ゆとり" in this context. Therefore, I am not sure if native speaker would understand the original meaning. Anyway, thanks for your answer.
