Marketing - Business/Commerce (general)
English term or phrase: work directly with them
A lot of our operations are of a proprietary nature because we have to stay ahead of the competition. By having these competencies here I can work directly with them and the problems that they have. We can immediately get together and solve instead of having to work with outside suppliers.

が全文です。

ここで書かれるthem やthe problems that they have の they は何を指しているのだろうと考えています。次の文章でinstead of having to work with outside suppliers と書かれているところから、社員のことなのかなとも予想できます。
前の文章で、一つ屋根の下で開発、製造、試験が行われる、と何度も書かれているところから、社員が一番見合っているのかと思うのですが、どうでしょうか。

Explanation:
Them refers to clients. This firm works directly with their clients to offer solutions and develop products, instead of passing the jobs to subcontractors. By working closer to the clients, this firm can offer exactly the kind of services and products that a clients requires, and thus provide services that can out compete the competitors.

disagree  humbird: There seems a reap in your thought. As far as this context concerned I don't see any reference to "clients".
