Both 'barques' and (your other question) 'brigs' are types of 横帆船, according to:

Thank you Kathy for your help. These are truly helpful sites. However while Katakana appears to be a standard translation in most of marine terminologiess, I am definitely after Kanji (i.e. complete Japanese) translation on this and the other. Reason points are not full 4.
