English to Japanese translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Economics | | English term or phrase: turn on a proverbial dime | The term "turn on a proverbial dime" sounds like an ideomatic expression.
I can't, however, find any appropriate Japanese for the term.
The expression appears in a sentence which talks about the Canadian
economy as follows:
"The ominous looking 2012 Q1 has instead turned on a proverbial dime into a rather tidy risk on trade. "
Your help is much appreciated. |

| | 急変した | Explanation: この場合、「急変」という言葉が適切ではないでしょうか。
急変という言葉はどちらかと言うと悪い意味に使われる場合が多いので(容体が急変した、態度を急変させた、等)上記の原文には明るい見通しからいきなり不安定な状態に急激に変わった、ということで使えるのではないでしょうか。
ご参考にどうぞ。 |
