English to Japanese translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - IT (Information Technology) / Software Interfaces
English term or phrase:controls
I'm having a brain blackout - I can't find a good word do describe software-based "controls" in Japanese (as in buttons, menus, icons, etc.). For physical things I'd use 制御装置, but somehow it doesn't look right in a virtual context. コントロール on the other hand seems to vague, maybe because it could be interpreted as both 制御装置 and 制御 itself...
Anyway, here's the full sentence the term appears in:
"Within the program container, you can create a number of worksheets and place a selection of controls onto each worksheet using a design mode."
The document is related not as much to programming, as to interface customization for a facility control software. Anyway, IT is not really my field, so I'm going to trust the experts - if you both say コントロール is acceptable, コントロール it is ;) Thank you!
Teku256 - since you were the first to suggest it, if you submit コントロール as an answer, I'll be happy to give you points for it.
I guess your doc may be related to programming context in reference to designing buttons, menus, etc. using a selection of "controls" onto worksheets. In that sense, I'm with Teku-san that it's no prob to say コントロール directly as transliterated. -
I expect that 'control' is one of the specific GUI items of the program. I think in that case コントロール is approvable. Other candidates I thought of: コントロール部品, 制御部品, コントロール（ボタン・メニュー・アイコン等）. What do you think about them?
Gah, just caught a typo: "コントロール on the other hand seems _too_ vague", of course.

Notes to answerer
Asker: That would be good, but the "controls" the document is talking about also includes a set of display-only elements: meters, gauges and such, so 操作 is probably a bit off... Thank you for a suggestion though!
