開発者が携帯電話用アプリケーションを開発するという内容で、取説の項目のタイトルが例えば「delete xxx」、その説明として "Allows an application to delete xxxx" という文章が続きます。
この "Allows an application to" を　「アプリケーションで。。。させる」、「アプリケーションを使ってｘｘｘさせる」、「ｘｘｘｘさせるアプリケーションです」など、どの表現が最も適切か迷います。開発者が読んで適切と思われるためには、"Allows" をどのように訳すればよいでしょうか。アドバイスをお願いいたします。

英語ではapplication などの非生物を良く主語や行為主体にしますが、そのまま日本語に置き換えるとおかしな日本語になることが少なくありません。この場合なら

xxx を削除できます。

あたりででどうでしょうか。「このアプリケーションで」を入れるかどうかは文脈で見てみてください。
ちなみに「削除することができます」はあまり好まれません。

時と場合によってはアプリケーションなどの無生物をそのまま主語として訳出した方がよいケースも見かけられます。

私ならということですが、全体の流れに照らしたうえで、「アプリケーションを通じて、削除できる。」などと訳すシチュエーションかも知れません。その全体によっては改めて考え直さなければならないとも当然いえます。
