English to Japanese translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / Office lease contract
English term or phrase: transfer, assign
Office lease contract の中の以下の文です。

The tenant must only:

(a) transfer or assign the whole of this lease in accordance with clause 15; or
(b) sublet the whole of the Premises in accordance with clause 15,

but must not otherwise transfer, assign, sublet, license, part with possession or deal with this lease or the Premises.

ここに出てくる transfer と assign が同じ意味だと思っていたので、最後の文のようにこの2語を並べて書かれると、どのように意味を違えて訳したらいいかわかりません。移転、譲渡と訳すべきでしょうか?それとも一語扱いにして「譲渡」とだけするべきでしょうか?あるいは別の訳があるのでしょうか?ご教示ください。

Japanese translation:譲渡 (to cover both words)
Explanation:
The ビジネス実務英語辞典 gives this definition for "assign and transfer" = 譲渡する、譲渡・移転する、譲渡・移譲する。

The example sentence in this dictionary and the translation are as follows:

- 本契約またはその一部は、 相手方の書面による事前の同意を得ないでいずれの当事者も"譲渡"してはならない。

I forgot to mention that the above dictionary writes the term exactly like this:
assign and [or] transfer
They are written as a set.

譲渡・移転する

Explanation:
契約・法律用語英和辞典によると、transferもassignも動詞の場合、それぞれ譲渡すると移転する、と訳されています。

要は、貸主と借主が直接契約を結んで借りているわけですから、その貸借権を第三者に譲渡または移転してはならない、ということです。
