驚異の世界が貴方を待っています Explanation: If you tell this phrase to a Japanese who is retiring from many years of service in an organization, he or she would have some odd and strange feeling. Rarely the life after retirement is perceived by Japanese as a world of wonder. Please be prepared to make a lot of explanations. (I am also a recently retired person.) |

驚きの世界が待っています Explanation: If you use the word `kyoui`, it will be too strong for the theme of a retirement party. And if you dare to say `you` in Japanese, it will give an affected impression to the reader. |

あなたの前に新しい未来が! Explanation: 「あなたの前に新しい未来が 開けています」。(anatano-maeni-atarashii-miraiga-hirakete-imasu) A message with a literary flavor well-suited for a send-off. Yeah, the word “wonder” certainly sounds odd when literally translated into Japanese. Might better be paraphrased into “a new future (新しい未来).” Thus my interpretation of the whole message is “A new future opens up ahead of you.” -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-11-07 03:40:18 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- If you want to write it, why don¥'t you make it shorter, just saying ”あなたの前に新しい未来が!,” which sounds more appealing? |
