| English to Japanese translations [Non-PRO] | | English term or phrase: THE OKINAWAN DIALECT (HOPE THERE'S NO ENCODING PROBLEM THIS TIME) | THE OKINAWAN DIALECT
Hi,
Please could you give me as many ways as possible of saying the above in Japanese? It’s so I can do a Google search for websites dealing with it. What I'm hoping to do is to obtain an Okinawan translation of just three lines:
青い空,青い海, 南の島の歌
白い(赤い)花が咲く頃,娘は生まれもらった
花の名前を娘はもらった
Best wishes and thanks,
Simon |

| | 沖縄の方言 or うちなーぐち | Explanation: I am from Okinawa. 沖縄の方言 is the starndard Japanese way to say it and うちなーぐち is the way Okinawans say it. I grew up in Tokyo so I don't speak the dialect but when my parents speak, it sounds really neat.

FYI: Okinawan people call themselves うちなんちゅー. うちなー means Okinawan. So if you have been told うちなーじらー, it means you look like one of Okinawans. うちなー = Okinawan, じらー = Face. Okinawan Face = You have a face of Okinawans. |
