flesh-colored Mary Magdalene

If the picture is the picture of Mary Magdalene by Murillo, I think the 'flesh-coloured' in the description is emphasising the fact that Mary Magdalene looks alive. Her fair skin injects life into the picture and really draws your attention to the fact that she is very much alive!

Or.... that's how I feel about it anyway

すみません、肝心のところをミスタイプしていたようです。お察しのとおり、grottoです。ただ、先ほども申し上げましたが、wringing so many fingers というように、両手の指を組み合わせたようなポーズは、先ほどの、Mary Magdalene. By Murillo. 1650-55だけのようですが。

原文からは、実在の絵かどうかの手がかりは読み取れません。ただ、
sighing up at the upper right-hand edge of the picture and wringing so many fingers などの描写からすると、
お示しのMary Magdalene. By Murillo. 1650-55が一番近いかな、という印象を受けます。この絵も着衣ではありますが、肌が透けた感じでエロチックではありますね。やはり、「肉感的」辺りが妥当な気がしてきましたが。いかがでしょう。

should be fine, but I do have to comment that in biblical reference, "flesh" is almost synonymous with "worldly" or "carnal" (pertaining to the lusts of the flesh), so there may be some slight innuendo there. My guess is that he doesn't want her to be presented as pristine, like a saint or statue, but as a human being with faults and shortcomings like everyone else.
