米国では、キャンプ場は一般にcampground と呼ばれているが、特に、近年は、多様なタイプのキャンプ場が登場し、普及、発展する中で、ＲＶでの利用を主とした（あるいはＲＶ専用）ＲＶパーク（RV park ）、各種リゾート施設と複合的に整備された【キャンプリゾート（camp resort ）】、あるいはＲＶパークとリゾート施設を複合したＲＶリゾート（RV resort ）など、それぞれのタイプに則した名称も一般的に使われている。また、トラベルトレーラーやパークトレーラー等を定置して長期滞在利用する【デスティネーションキャンプ場（destination campground ）】という利用形態からみた名称もある。

豪華リゾート、多目的リゾート
ＵＲＬを読んで共通しているのは、どのリゾート地も、多目的リゾート地であるということです。例えば、ゴルフコースのあるデスティネーションリゾートでは、ほかにもスパがあったり、乗馬施設があったり、ショッピング施設があったりします。最近のラスベガスが良い例ですね。ホテルに泊まる客もあれば、マンション(コンドミニアム)を借りる客もあるようです。

他に、ハワイなどでは、デステネーションリゾートという会社が開発したリゾートのことを特にこう呼んでいるようです。これも多目的リゾートですが、客は、会社所有のマンションを借りるようになっています。

追加事項・・・マンションの場合、タイムシェアをすることも多くなっているようです。　タイムシェアとは、リゾートから施設存続期間にわたり自分の希望する利用時間を買い取ってしまうシステムのこと。
