フランコ独裁が終わってまもない、８０年代初頭、ぱっとひらいて消えたムーブメント。
映画監督のアルモドバル、スペインロック界の女ボス、アラスカ等の友達のネットワークから始まったこのムーブメントは、ドラッグでもなんでもありで、抑圧された世界から解放された時の狂乱状態だったのかもしれません。

音楽シーンでは世界的なパンクムーブメントにも影響され、様々なロックバンドが国内に登場しました。現在活躍する多くのロックバンドもアンコールで８０年代のバンドの曲をカバーすることなどからも、その影響力の大きさは今のスペインロック事情を知る上で大切なもののようです。スペイン国内でも、アラスカの自叙伝、CD等の再発など再検証が行われはじめたようです。

辞書にないイタリア語：MOVIDA
スペイン語で「動き」の意味。
独裁政権を維持したフランシスコ・フランコの没後、70年代終盤から80年代にマドリードで若者の間で起きた快楽主義的なカウンターカルチャー、Movida madrileña（マドリッド・ムーブメント）が語源のようです。
快楽嗜好のニュアンスが残って、現在イタリア語では「夜遊び」「乱痴気騒ぎ」に近い意味で使われています。
