On reading again, I think it can be '자백 (confession)' because the subject is a defendant.

Explanation:
I don't think it means 자수 in Korean. In this case, I haven't got a full context meaning from just one sentence. However, presumably this suggests plea bargaining. So, a defendant is sometimes given an chance to be able to reduce a sentence he/she is going to serve if he/she submits that he/she committed the crime and and wants to be punished voluntarily.

Therefore, what's the best possible translation is 혐의인정(admitting his/her charge) or 유죄인정(admitting guilty) in Korean.

Asker: well this is exaclty what I meant. The defendant will have a trial and before it starts she'll admit that she commited the crime to some extent and she counts on the less serious sentence thankyou

disagree  graywolf: 유죄인정 can be is done by a judge or by the defendant himself. In this sense, 유죄인정 is not appropriate.

  -> In terms of 유죄인정 or 혐의인정, this does not done by a judge. Only thing a judge can do is to confirm the process that a defendent submits that he/she committed the crime and and wants to be punished voluntarily. Also, it doesn't matter before or after trial.
