English term or phrase: The general
I was wondering how you would say "The general" in Korean. Any help with a translation is appreciated. I will also need the translation in Roman letters. Thank you for your help.

Korean translation:eelbaan[íl:bán] or jang-goon[jáŋ:gún]
Explanation:
If you use 'The general' in following sentense,

"Wage rates depend in part on the general prosperity of the economy."

you can say "eelbaan[íl:bán]" in Korean.

But, if 'The general' used in following sentense,

"The general refused to withdraw his troops."

then, you can say "jang-goon[jáŋ:gún]" in Korean.

For example, 'general Lee' is pronounce 'Lee jang-goon[jáŋ:gún]'.
