Are there any cultural considerations on whether to choose a male or female voice talent to record a telephone system for Korean? This would be for example in the case of financial telephone applications so it wouldn't contain any 'sensitive' material that's gender specific. Any ideas?

In my opinion, there is no gender bias on this matter. However, It seems many automatic voice systems used by banks or other finance institutes in Korea have female voice. Female voice is friendlier and has higher frequency that helps Koreans clearly understand.
