5 +2 | sorici est honor |

sorici est honor Explanation: Dear Ben, well... that's the easiest way to put it. In short, it is a possessive-dative construction with verb "to be". "Honor is to the rat", which means "The rat has got the honor" --> "to the rat goes the honor". Rat is "sorex", but "sorici" for it is in dative case (to the rat) est: is (cfr. above) honor: honor Hope it helps! Flavio -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-03-20 21:42:16 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- \"muri\" (to the rat) would have been ambiguous. Also means \"to the wall\"! Disctinction in Latin |
