English to Latin translations [Non-PRO] Other / Vocab Building | | English term or phrase: The sun is shining. | Hi,
I'm never sure what verb to use - fulgo seems to be better suited for lightning etc., but perhaps I'm wrong.
Many thanks,

| | sol fulget/sol lucet | Explanation: 'Fulg(e)o' is indeed often used of lightning and of other flashing visual phaenomena, but it is also used of sunlight, as, e.g., at Catullus, 8.3 and 8, where the plural 'soles' may be rendered 'sunny days'. But 'luceo' is more common. |
