Water Washing Method
The oil sample should be taken from full flow in a supply pipe, as oil is being delivered to the turbine or to a storage tank. When received for testing the entire sample should be shaken well in its container and transferred to a separating funnel. It should then be extracted with high purity water. The volume of the oil should then measured in a graduated cylinder. The water solution should then be analyzed using ASTM methods D-4191 or D-6071.
