Def. An economically displaced person is one who has been forced to leave their home locality to obtain employment. This term is distinguished from an economic migrant, refugee, or internally displaced person because the individual was not originally a migrant, and such an individual has not crossed national boundaries. Finally, the internally displaced person generally refers to one who is forced to migrate for reasons other than economic conditions, such as war or persecution.

Овој термин треба да се разграничи од термините: economic migrant, refugee и internally displaced person.
Economic migrant vs. refugee: someone who goes to a new country because living conditions or opportunities for jobs are not good in their own country. This word is used by governments to show that a person is not considered a refugee (=someone who has been forced to leave their country for political reasons).
