istilah ini biasanya digunakan ketika melakukan perjalan jauh denga menggunakan pesawat. Bedanya hanya terletak pada, yang direct itu langsung menuju tujuan, sementara yang indirect pasti akan melakukan singgah dulu (alias transit).
