1. "you are dead, man" - this can be said to someone in great danger, maybe about to be killed. The malay would be "Nahas kamu" or "Matilah kamu"
2. "you are a dead man", where it is part of a sentance, then it means " anda telah mati". Eg. "When you are a dead man, your soul ...." = "Bila anda telah mati, roh anda..."

agree  nyamuk: Agree with the translations, however since the English terms you offered can mean the same I would distinguish between the possible intention of the speaker. Is it a threat (Matilah...) or is it an assesment or prediction (anda telah...)?

  -> Thanks. option 1 is said to a person whose life is being threatened (not dead yet)either by the speaker or a third party. option 2 is said to a person who is already dead.
