Again, I need a second opinion. I translated the phrase into;

"Terlalu Panjang, buang %N huruf"

%N is a variable so it doesn't need to be translated. I don't like using "Padam" as a direct translation of "Erase" or "Potong" when translated from "Delete". "Buang" is "get rid of" and the nearest word of ".....erase %N character."

Prefer someone who is an avid user of SMS (mobile phone) to assist me.

..."Panjang, padamkan %N aksara" (5 words); I think the user will get the message, that his message is too long. I still prefer to use the word "padamkan" for delete or erase. Well, others probably have a better suggestion.
