English term or phrase: The left service brake is released.
What is the correct translation of "released"?

Can one use "frigjort" in relation to brakes? If so, is this in writing somewhere - I need to justify using the word "frigjort", but now I cannot find anything online... (I'm sure I had it from somewhere...)
I find lots of references to the use of "å frigjøre bremsepedalen", so there must be some right in it.

And if not "frigjort", then what is a better term?

Thanks!!
