English to Norwegian translations [Non-PRO]
English term or phrase: pirate
I'm really looking for the old Norwegian word, I've heard "shülfe," which I have been told means "pirate," or something similar which is supposed to have been the precursor to my family name, "Self."

I am quite sure that your name comes from this word. It comes from Nynorsk (New Norwegian), and means "self".
