...to continue with nadeem ji, see there are many words that have infilterated from Eng, but does that mean we should lose our own. As to the objection of a word being \'basically\' Hindi, could you please suggest a translation of \'school\' that is basically Punjabi?

disagree  Gurpreet Singh: vidyalaya is used in hindi, you can ask a punjai who doesnt know hindi he will not agree with you that school is vidyalay or pathshala, its school in punjabi too as there are so many english or other language words which are same in punjabi just pron. dif

disagree  Kamran Nadeem: i agree with Gurpreet Singh,and please mind that if a native Punjabi does'nt know Hindi,you can't say him uneducated and furthermore these words basically belong to Hindi and not to Punjabi,Gurpreet is correct that school is used as it is in Punjabi.

  -> 1st of all, cld you pls be clear as to when did I say or mean that if a Pbi doesn't know Hdi he's uneducated. Second, who is deciding here that an uneducated Pbi doen't understand 'Paathshala'? I would really like to come across one who doesn't

vidyalaya is used in hindi, you can ask a punjai who doesnt know hindi he will not agree with you that school is vidyalay or pathshala, its school in punjabi too as there are so many english or other language words which are same in punjabi just pronounciation is different
